This is the latest news about Shab-e-Meraj 2025. Laylat al-Miraj, a pivotal night in the Islamic calendar commemorating Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) miraculous ascent to the heavens, is observed by Muslims worldwide. As Muslims get ready for the holy month of Ramadan, Laylat al-Miraj, which falls on the 27th of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a time for introspection and spiritual reconnection.
The “Night of Ascent,” or Laylat al-Miraj, honors the Isra and the Miraj, two significant occasions in the life of the Prophet. The Miraj recounts Prophet Muhammad’s ascension from Jerusalem to the heavens, while the Isra recounts his nighttime journey from Mecca to Jerusalem. When taken as a whole, these incidents highlight the close bond between the Prophet and Allah and provide motivation for Muslims.

Islamic Tradition’s Narration of the Trip
The books of siyar (the Prophet’s biographies) and hadith sources both contain accounts of the Isra and Miraj. This miraculous event is described in vivid detail in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.
The Angel Gabriel appeared to the Prophet one evening while he was at the Kaaba in Mecca. According to certain narrations, the Prophet was either asleep or only partially awake. Gabriel opened the Prophet’s chest, filled it with wisdom and faith, and cleansed his heart with Zam Zam water. The Prophet was then taken from Masjid al-Haram in Mecca to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem by means of the Buraq. After offering prayers at Masjid al-Aqsa. The Prophet then started to ascend to the heavens.
Climbing Through the Sky
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) met notable prophets at every level as he ascended through the seven heavens during the Miraj. He encountered Adam, Jesus, Joseph, Idris, Aaron, Moses, and finally Abraham in the seventh heaven. Beyond the seventh heaven lies Sidrat al-Muntaha, a lote tree marking the boundary where no being, not even Angel Gabriel, could pass. However, the Prophet was granted permission to continue.
At this sacred point, Allah revealed several profound directives. Initially, the command for Muslims to pray 50 times a day was given. Upon descending, the Prophet was advised by Moses (AS) to request a reduction, as 50 daily prayers would be challenging for the community. After several intercessions, the number of obligatory prayers was reduced to five daily prayers, a cornerstone of Islamic practice today.
Furthermore, the last verses of Surat al-Baqara, which contain assurances of forgiveness for those who do not associate partners with Allah, were revealed to the Prophet during the Miraj.
Spiritual Importance and Rituals
The Prophet’s spiritual relationship with Allah and the duties assigned to the Muslim community are both emphasized in Laylat al-Miraj. Through prayer and forgiveness, it also highlights Allah’s kindness and accessibility. Laylat al-Miraj, which takes place about a month before Ramadan, is a time for Muslims to pray, consider their faith, and get ready for the holy month of fasting. This holy night is celebrated by Muslims worldwide as a tribute to the Prophet’s extraordinary journey and the timeless teachings of Islam: faith, devotion, and the quest for spiritual advancement.
