After a two-year wait, Sebastian Roche recently spoke candidly about what fans can anticipate from 1923 season 2. As Father Renaud in the Paramount+ series, the 60-year-old actor told PEOPLE that the new season is “very satisfactory” and will alter the show’s characters “forever.”
“I think season two is about journeys,” Roche joked. Every character embarks on a journey, and yes, it is quite fulfilling. “I mean, you realize that you were establishing the characters at the beginning when you read all the scripts. Spencer was traveling home, of course. However, you now understand that each character is traveling on a personal journey, both physically and psychologically. He added, “And these journeys are going to change these people forever.”

Speaking about his character, the Vampire Diaries star said he “wholeheartedly” welcomed Father Renaud’s impending changes and described the experience as “a great adventure.” The complexity of my journey and the transformational nature of Father Renaud’s journey as he fumbles in his search for this girl are two aspects of my character that I adored. What does she stand for? For him, it’s a truly transformative journey,” Roche said.
