This is the latest news about NewJeans Rebrands as NJZ. On February 7, the K-pop group revealed their new moniker and confirmed that they would be the main act at ComplexCon Hong Kong 2025. Their first show under the new name will take place in March, and the band will be performing new songs.
“We’re not entirely moving on from our previous name, even though we must temporarily put it behind us. Additionally, we don’t want to, as [being NewJeans] was still a very special time for us and is likely something that our fans also cherish greatly,” Hanni told CNN.
“It is extremely regrettable that the members made this unilateral decision before any legal ruling has been made regarding the validity of their exclusive contracts with ADOR,” said ADOR in response to the announcement.

The label further stated that they would “always be open to meeting with NewJeans members or their legal representatives to resolve any misunderstandings and discuss the group’s future activities” and “continue to do our best to protect the brand value of NewJeans.”
After the group’s contracts with ADOR and HYBE were terminated in November 2024, the members declared they “had no intention of ever returning” to their previous labels. After the company filed a lawsuit regarding the validity of the contract and an injunction regarding independent brand deals, the band is scheduled to appear in court against ADOR.
