This is the latest news about Kashif Ali and Brookes. Before returning to Worcestershire for the 2025 season, Worcestershire players Kashif Ali and Ethan Brookes will play for Adelaide University and Ghani Glass, respectively. Both players had a fantastic 2024 with the county. Brookes, in his first season with Worcestershire, was named the team’s 2024 T20 Player of the Year and finished as the top scorer in the T20 Blast competition, while Ali finished as Worcestershire’s top scorer as they successfully solidified their position in the first division.

Next week, Ali, 26, will play in the nine-team President’s Trophy in Pakistan, marking his first return to first-class action since his Worcestershire campaign. Ali is suiting up for Ghani Glass after playing for the team three times during the previous winter. This time, though, he has eight group matches spread out over eight weeks.

Ali enters the competition in excellent form, having filled Azhar Ali’s number three spot at New Lane and scoring close to 800 runs at an average of 42.61 in his first full year of red ball cricket. “My experience from last winter proved invaluable and prepared me well for my return to Worcestershire,” Ali stated.

“We play eight successive rounds this winter, but I’m looking to learn as much as I can from the experience, not only on the batting front but also with my leg spin, which I want to develop.” Ali has spent the first half of the winter playing club cricket in Pakistan.

In the meantime, Brookes will spend the second half of the winter back in Australia, playing for the Adelaide University Cricket Club. Last year, Brookes scored three hundreds for Prahran Cricket Club, including 146 off 71 balls in a Twenty20 match against Footscray Cricket Club.

In addition, he enters his comeback in excellent form after leading Worcestershire in scoring during their T20 Blast campaign and playing a key role in the team’s run to the Metro Bank One Day Cup quarterfinals. On the other hand, he will need to perform strongly on the second day of a two-day match between Adelaide and West Torrens. With Adelaide 102-8 and Brookes on 24 not out from 71 balls, he will resume his quest for 169 all out in 47 overs.
