This is the latest news about HBL PSL 2025 Player Draft. Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand was selected first in the HBL PSL 2025 player draft by the two-time champion Lahore Qalandars on Monday afternoon in order to strengthen their batting order at the Huzoori Bagh in Lahore Fort. Later this year, Mitchell, who has participated in 70 Twenty20 Internationals, will make his HBL PSL debut.
The 2020 HBL PSL champion Karachi Kings used the second pick in the first Platinum round to defeat left-handed batsman David Warner. Warner will be one of the season’s noteworthy debutants due to his extensive experience, which includes 12,727 T20 runs in 392 T20 matches.
Quetta Gladiators selected Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and Peshawar Zalmi used the Right to Match option for him. For the past four seasons of the HBL PSL, Kohler-Cadmore has played for Zalmi. The Gladiators then selected Mark Chapman of New Zealand, a dual international who has played 81 Twenty20 Internationals in his ten-year international career.
The Multan Sultans and Islamabad United, respectively, selected Michael Bracewell and Matthew Short as the final two selections in the Platinum One round. In 149 Twenty20 matches, Bracewell, a New Zealand all-format player, has amassed 2744 runs and claimed 66 wickets.
As Islamabad looks to add a fourth HBL PSL Trophy to their cabinet later this year, the 29-year-old Short will join their potent batting lineup. Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings each had two picks in the second round of the Platinum. The Gladiators added all-rounder Faheem Ashraf to their team by using their Wild Card Pick option. Quetta also selected Finn Allen, an aggressive Kiwi opening batsman, in this round. With two hundreds and a strike rate of 158.69, Allen, 25, has amassed 1141 runs in 47 Twenty20 Internationals for New Zealand.
By selecting Adam Milne as their first pick in the Platinum two round and then using Wild Card on Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Karachi Kings bolstered their pace arsenal.
Milne’s 186 T20 experience, where he has taken 213 wickets at an average of 23.61, will add extra pace to the HBL PSL 2025. However, Abbas Afridi, who will now play for the Kings, led the Multan Sultans in wicket-taking with 23 during the HBL PSL 2023 and was included in the tournament squad.
Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, and Lahore Qalandars acquired top-tier foreign players in Corbin Bosch, Jason Holder, and Kusal Perera during the Diamond round of selections. Zalmi selected Bosch, United selected Holder, and Qalandars selected Perera.
In the first round of the Gold category, Peshawar Zalmi added Bangladesh’s Nahid Rana to their pace stocks. In his brief international career, 22-year-old Rana has impressed everyone with his express pace.
Ben Dwarshuis, an Australian left-arm fast bowler who has taken 176 T20 wickets at an average of 22 in 140 games, was selected by Islamabad United in the same category. He will play for United in the HBL PSL 2025 alongside his compatriots Riley Meredith and Short.
Qalandars selected Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain in the third round of the silver category. Andries Gous of the United States of America (USA) will play for Islamabad United in the HBL PSL 2025, marking a first. During this round, the Multan Sultans added West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie and Irish pacer Josh Little to their roster.
Kane Williamson, who will join his New Zealand teammate Milne, was selected by the Karachi Kings in the first supplementary round. He will join Mohammad Nabi, David Warner, and Litton Das as Kings’ prominent foreign additions. In the first supplementary round, the Sultans, Qalandars, Gladiators, and Zalmi, respectively, defeated Johnson Charles, Tom Curran, Kusal Mendis, and pacer Alzarri Joseph. Qalandars used the Right to Match card against the reigning champions Islamabad United in the second round, snagging Sam Billings. The team then picked up Rassie van der Dussen.
With the addition of Australia’s Sean Abbott to their lineup in the second round of the Supplementary, the Quetta Gladiators made a wise choice. While Afghanistan’s Muhammad Nabi will rejoin the Karachi Kings this year, Shai Hope was chosen by the Sultans. Shoaib Malik was selected by Quetta Gladiators in the third round of the Supplementary, and he will play in his tenth consecutive HBL PSL edition. Notable selections from the two emerging rounds of picks were the Gladiators’ acquisition of batting prodigy Hasan Nawaz and Zalmi’s acquisition of the gifted Maaz Sadaqat.
Saad Masood, a right-arm legspinner who also bats, made significant waves at the recent Champions T20 Cup in Rawalpindi. He now plays for Islamabad United and will be led by Shadab Khan. Ubaid Shah was picked up by the Multan Sultans, while Hunain Shah rejoins Islamabad United.
