Punjab’s Free Solar Panel Program 2025: Apply & Check Status

Solar-Panel-Program

The free solar panel program has been announced by the Punjab government for its citizens, particularly those who use 100 to 200 units of electricity. On December 6, 2024, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz introduced this free solar initiative. The program’s goal is to assist residents who are having difficulty keeping up with the rising cost of electricity. The free solar panel program ended on January 5, 2025.

It’s important to keep track of the status of your application if you’ve applied for the free solar system. Checking the status of your application is an easy process that can be done online or through other means. Go to https://cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk/, the portal created by PITB.

Enter your password and registered email address to log in.

To check status, go to the dashboard’s “Application Status” section.

Examine your application’s current status, which will show as “Under Review,” “Approved,” or “Rejected.”

Additional ways to verify the status

There are other methods to check your status if you are unable to access the online portal:

Helpline Assistance: To find out more about your application, call the helpline. To get help, enter your CNIC or reference number.

Notifications via SMS: Regular updates on the status of their applications will be sent to applicants who applied via SMS. For reference, save the confirmation message.

This year, 100,000 solar systems will be distributed as part of the program. 550-watt solar systems will be provided to customers who use up to 100 units of electricity per month, and 1100-watt solar systems will be given to those who use up to 200 units.

It’s anticipated that the program will drastically cut electricity costs for qualified customers and promote environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions by about 57,000 tonnes per year. A computerised voting system will be employed to choose beneficiaries in order to maintain transparency. The reference and CNIC numbers on monthly electricity bills will be used for verification. A helpline will also be established to help customers with the installation and registration procedures.

The initiative is expected to lessen the federal government’s subsidy burden while promoting renewable energy in Punjab, and authorities emphasised that the solar panels and inverters will be connected to the consumers’ CNICs to prevent theft.
