This is the latest news about Islamabad High Court Judges Appointment. The appointment of five more judges, two in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and three in the Balochistan High Court (BHC), for a one-year term was approved by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Friday during a meeting chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi. Two commission meetings were held in the Supreme Court conference room, one for the BHC and one for the consideration of nominations for the appointment of additional judges in the IHC, according to a JCP statement.
By a majority vote at the first meeting, the JCP authorised the appointment of Supreme Court advocate Inaam Ameen Minhas and District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) Muhammad Azam Khan as additional judges of the IHC. The names of SC lawyers Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Ayub Khan were later unanimously approved by the JCP in a separate meeting. Additionally, the appointment of SC lawyer Muhammad Najamuddin Mengal as an additional judge of the BHC was finalised by a majority decision.

The commission decided to renominate the nominees for future vacancies if they failed to receive the necessary majority vote of JCP members this time. In accordance with the JCP announcement regarding the meeting to select the IHC judges, 21 applicants applied for the four open positions. Only two nominees were appointed, though, with JCP approval.
According to people with knowledge of the situation, DSJ Khan and SC advocate Minhas received the necessary number of votes during the meeting. According to them, the names of six candidates who received the most votes in the first round but were unable to obtain the necessary majority were taken into consideration in the second round of voting, which was held among the remaining 19. In the second round, though, they were unable to obtain the necessary number of votes.
