According to a report, Meezan Bank of Pakistan has compensated ten victims of unauthorized debit card transactions following allegations of a third-party data leak. Now Meezan Bank has clarified that its system remains uncompromised by attributing the problem to customers sharing data on apps and websites that bypass OTP verification.
But now Meezan Bank claims that only ten complaints were received over the matter in the past week, and all of the complaints have been resolved now by paying compensation to affected customers.

This incident highlights the issue of increasing cybercrimes in Pakistan. Although the government has proposed many amendments to control cybercrime in the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016.
